Syphilis (Lues)

Syphilis, also called lues, is a sexually transmitted disease caused by bacteria. It progresses in three stages with multiple signs. You can easily get tested for syphilis with us. If syphilis is suspected, a blood test is carried out. Syphilis is treated with antibiotics. People with syphilis should abstain from sex until the therapy is finished.

If someone you have had casual sex with has tested positive for syphilis, you should not get tested until six weeks after the contact. Only then can the pathogen be detected beyond doubt in the swab.

We no longer use rapid syphilis tests at Checkpoint Zurich, because they are too inaccurate. All of our syphilis tests are sent to the laboratory to guarantee you the highest quality of testing.
