LGBTQ+ youth organisations: between professionalisation and activism
‘Protect queer youth’ was the slogan for Zurich Pride 2026. What does protecting queer young people actually mean? And how do organisations manage to create spaces that are truly accessible without compromising on professionalism?
During the panel discussion at Checkpoint Zurich, representatives and activists from various youth organisations discussed how they balance activism with institutional requirements. They shared their practical experiences, spoke about the opportunities and challenges of their work, and discussed how they design their programmes to ensure that young people are reached, taken seriously and empowered.
