At Checkpoint we offer you PrEP-Start-consulting sessions and the necessary routine check-ups.
PrEP is a protection method against HIV. PrEP stands for “pre-exposure prophylaxis” And is a pill formed medication.
The method has been scientifically tested, and, when used correctly, protects just as well as condoms against infection with HIV.
However, PrEP only protects against HIV and not against other sexually transmitted infections such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis or hepatitis.
It is important that you only take PrEP under medical supervision, in order to avoid developing resistance and side effects such as damage to the kidneys. Moreover, regular STI screenings should be performed quarterly.
Discounted PrEP at Checkpoint Zurich
Since mid-October 2019, PrEP has been available at Checkpoint Zurich for CHF 40 as part of the SwissPrEPared program. Following your check-up, the prescription will be sent directly to a central pharmacy and then delivered to your home by post without additional postage costs.
The discounted PrEP can only be obtained under the following conditions:
- You have an appointment for an initial consultation or a follow-up (With counselor or doctor)
- You are a participant in the SwissPrEPared Program
